Getting Started Owning Your Own Home

There are a series of grants in excess of $17,000 for down payment and closing cost assistance. These are available through our lender, the City of Hagerstown, Washington County, and the State of Maryland. These are based on eligibility and availability. With these grants you can buy a house with 100% financing.  

The first step to getting started is verification of income. This would be in the form of most recent pay stubs. 

After pay stubs, you will need a filled out credit consent form  to be sent to  the Hagerstown Home Store. It is a 'Soft' pull not a 'Hard' pull, so there is no damage to your credit. Your score and income will determine your grant and loan eligibility. 

A prerequisite for the grants is to attend the Hagerstown Home Store 3 hour workshop. After you have completed the workshop, contact the Hagerstown Home Store at 301-797-0900 for a an appointment to receive your certificate of completion.

The final step is forward your credit information and pay stubs to a lender who will determine what you qualify for in purchasing a home.
